Dale – It seems to me that installing AstroTurf fields would conflict with Frederick Law Olmsted’s beautiful design, and would negatively impact the environment. I’d like to see what the environmental analysis says about the project.

Does the county have any influence in Golden Gate Park? The city seems determined to pave over a large segment of the park near oceanbeach as a way to make money. Most of us in the nearby neighborhood are against this but are having trouble enlisting aide from the larger population which doesn’t utilize this part of the park. Artificial turf has no place in our oark and especially on such an expanded scale as planned. Please clarify your position on this matter.

Alix,
Great story to share.
You touched on a few important aspects to this process:
1) {Only} Sometimes the club seems really interested in what you have to say.
2) Sometimes they made their decision before you even walked in the door. And not in a good way.
3) Questionnaires …requires a little bit of research {Sometimes odd topics}
4) You omitted, Nice smile, well dressed, friendly, good speaker.

Unfortunately, the Endorsement Effort pays Far too Little attention to:
1) THE WORK THE Candidate IS TO PERFORM
2) The fact that the Incumbent does NOT Champion Legislation important to the Club members.

On the whole, the endorsement process remains a “Celebrity competition”.

I do agree with you that “endorsements matter” and carry plenty of influence, but not in a good way.

We could and we should improve the endorsement process by focusing on what really matters.

I’ve just submitted a similar resolution for Az Dem Party consideration at our April 21 State Committee meeting (earliest it can be considered). I utilized your resolution, with some minor modifications and additions which I’ve gleaned from others. I anticipate it’s adoption. Thanks!
